SOLVED: I own the mobile version of the 1060, and the minimum is a desktop 1060 so I was actually below minimum SOLUTION: Using the steam launch options

You can use the -novid launch option to skip the intro. edit: try -dxlevel 81. crazymuffin • 11 yr. ago. This and also try -windowed or -noborder EDIT: -dxlevel 80 works better sometimes for me.
Open Portal RTX's Steam Library page. Click the cog, Click "Properties". Under "Launch Options", type "-game hl1" (if you own Half-Life 2 you can put hl2, although it is buggier) Your properties window should look like this: Now, Portal RTX should be configured to launch Half-Life Source. Launch it and bask in the glory of RTX Half-Life.
It is significantly more efficient and accurate than Microsoft's emulated jank. But by all accounts, what you're seeing in my software screenshots are in-fact software rendered Half Life as it would have been viewed on Windows 7 and earlier systems, with the same high performance and accurate visuals. #6.
Half-Life 2 won't launch. Hey! Whenever I try to launch hl2, something weird happens. The screen goes black for a second, then I'm back at my home screen. When I click on the game on the taskbar, the same thing happens. I also noticed that when I open the task manager, the game is titled as hl2 32 Bit, and so is Steam. I'm using a 64 Bit system.

black screen on start up. saw a few solutions none working. going into the launch options and using -nofbo makes it worse. using -autoconfig doesnt work. using -safe doesnt work. idk what to do at this point. Extract the demo file into your Half-Life 2 folder (e.g. "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\ your_steam_account \half-life 2\hl2\") In Steam, right-click on Half-Life 2, go to Properties then Launch options. Enter " +showbudget_texture 1 +playdemo stutter". Click OK then close the Properties box. Run Half-Life 2.
